Description:  For a city that’s more than 50% female, there’s not a lot of women on the City Council — just 12 out of 50 members are women, to be exact. An initiative created to change the status quo endorsed 32 female candidates in the 2021 elections on Monday, vowing to help see at least 21 of them into office. (October 2020)

QNS SEQ Fights COVID Coalition provides access to resources during coronavirus pandemic

Description: As new statistics from the city’s Department of Health show how neighborhoods in the Rockaways, Jamaica and Rochdale were ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic, a number of Queens-based nonprofit organizations and community stakeholders launched the South East Queens Fights COVID Coalition Monday to connect local residents to pertinent information and resources related to the deadly outbreak.
